Pétrus is one of the world’s rarest wines. In terms of prestige, excellence and standing, it doesn’t get bigger or better than Pomerol’s finest. Pétrus vineyards are located at the highest part of Pomerol and the topsoil and the subsoil is almost all clay, which is the optimal environment for Merlot. Pétrus' vineyard is planted with 95% Merlot. Pétrus is extraordinarily rich, powerful, concentrated and is usually approachable after a decade or so in bottle. The wines from the very greatest years will continue improving for many more years.
